Have a question? We might have the answer below.
Below are answers to some excellent questions that the Tempo staff members and adviser have been asked before today. Of course, if you have a question that isn't answered below, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to answer you in a timely manner.

Why do you have to preorder a yearbook?
BHS does not sell yearbooks for a profit. We sell them as close to the production cost as possible.
Because of this we need to know precisely how many books to order so that we are guaranteed to have a book for everyone who has ordered one during the 5 month order window that the yearbooks were for sale.

Why don’t you order more extra books?
A small number of additional books are ordered. However, those books don’t go for sale until we do our best to confirm that students who ordered a book receive their book and that there are no errors in the product students receive. Additionally, in the past our publisher has sent us a small surplus of books to sell. We never know how many books are included in the surplus until the books arrive. Because we don’t make a profit on the books, we can’t order more books than we are guaranteed to sell or else the yearbook has to “eat” that cost out of money set aside for cameras, technology, staff training, etc.
Why can’t I put my name on a waiting list if I didn’t order a book?
The yearbook staff does not know whether or not we will have extra books for sale until the books arrive. There is no way to guarantee a book to those who did not order one by the book deadline. Once the books arrive and they are counted, distributed, etc., there simply is not enough time & man power to effectively work off of a “wait list”. Additional books will be sold first come, first serve the day after details of the book sale are announced via the daily announcements.

Why can’t you tell me exactly when the extra books will be for sale and what the cost will be?
Our first priority is to provide yearbooks to those students who ordered their yearbooks within the given sales window. Once the books arrive and are distributed to those individuals, then we assess if there are additional books, and if so, how many there are to sell. The cost of the books is estimated to be approximately $65. However, this will be confirmed once our final invoice is received with the book shipment.

I ordered a spring supplement. When should I expect it to arrive?
The spring supplements typically arrive in early fall and are mailed directly to the homes off all students who ordered a supplement shortly thereafter. You should expect to have the spring supplement by the end of the first nine weeks. We would love to have them to you sooner, but it is much more cost effective for the yearbook staff to address, stuff & send these out ourselves, so it takes us a few weeks to get those out.

My name is spelled wrong in the yearbook/
I found a mistake, why?
We do our very best to fulfill our journalistic responsibilities with due diligence, and this includes correctly spelling student names, accurately recording event statistics, etc; however, this is a product created by student journalists and we are still learning. Despite proofreading, revising, and editing, we realize that in a 240+ page document, mistakes are bound to slip by. We sincerely apologize for any mistakes in the book.
